Who is the Richard Gordon PTA? It is us. Quite simply, all of us.

Parents and guardians, family and friends, teachers and staff. All of us who are here and invested in the children at Richard Gordon Elementary School.

Our Vision

In partnership with our school community, the PTA strives to fully enrich each child’s experience at Richard Gordon Elementary School. This is done with purpose and heart, in collaboration with families and friends, teachers and staff and our greater community. We do this because well supported children are able to grow in their confidence and capabilities. With this, we joyfully support each child as they continue to  learn and discover - beyond Richard Gordon Elementary School to their own greatest galaxies.

"Supporting our children's' roots, so they may reach for the stars."

What does the PTA do?

  • Provide education enrichment  Online enrichment of math and reading, STEAM nights, Passport Club, Project Linus, Clubs
  • Support our teachers and staff - Grants given to teachers for classroom supplies and experiences, art docent funding and support, work committees, Coffee with Christine, Lunchroom Superheroes
  • Volunteer- In the classroom, in the lunchroom, on the playground. During school and after school. The need for and appreciation of volunteer support cannot be understated (!). There are so many ways to get involved.
  • Provide activities that enriches the school experience for children and families – By funding and sponsoring field trips and school assemblies, activities such as Back to School Celebration, Tears and Cheers, Fall Carnival, Field Day, Family Fun Nights, Free Family Movie Nights, Popcorn Fridays, and the 5th Grade Graduation.
  • Create and cultivate community - Involvement and relationships. Perhaps a bit awkward at first figuring out how to get involved, but once you get started… Some examples of our work include ongoing Kingston Food Bank donations at every PTA event, Care and Share clothing bins.
  • Fundraisers - Quite simply, fundraising is integral in helping accomplish these other goals. We work with the goal of encompassing fun with fundraising, such as with Bulbs, the Student Read-a-thon, Turkey Trot, Smile Amazon, Box Tops, the Annual Auction and Fundraiser, and the Run-and-Fun-a-thon.

2020 - 2021 PTSA Memberships are now available!

Individual Membership ($12)     Couple Membership ($20)     Silent Partner ($40)

Why be a paid member? Because your membership counts.

It gives flight to our vision  "Supporting our children's' roots, so they may reach for the stars."

As a paid (formal) member of the PTA, you are able to vote on membership spending and activities.  And if you don't want or need to get involved to vote? Well, the membership fee also helps to fund our school activities as well as support student advocacy on both the state and national levels.

To be sensitive, if money is tight-  and you're not a paid member this year... Well you would be considered an informal member, and therefore a non-voting member. but you're still PTA.

We're in this together, at Richard Gordon Elementary :) .
